ambiguus

I don't think this type of page move is appropriate. There is no ambiguity to define pallaadium as a word in Estonian at the page pallaadium. Similarly, one can define palladium as a word in English, Dutch, etc., all on the page palladium. See, for example, en:pallaadium, en:palladium, and en:Palladium. - dcljr (disputatio) 02:55, 28 Martii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, it wasn't necessary to move the page pallaadium to pallaadium (et) for technical reasons, but I did it for consistency.
When I started to do some work on this wiktionary, I noticed it's different from other known wiktionaries, in the way pages are organized.
You might have noticed that there's no accumulation of multiple entries on one page, when a lemma or term is used in different languages. The founder of the Victionarium used a different approach, similar to Wikipedia with disambiguation pages to select "foreign" language entries on separate pages. That's the reason why we have, for example, a palladium (Latin) page with a disambiguation section linking to palladium (da), palladium (en), palladium (fr), etc. instead of the en:palladium agglomeration.
I decided to continue in the same way. There are some problems with interpage links and a lot of inconsistencies I'm trying to fix when I come across them. --YaganZ (disputatio) 15:48, 28 Martii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just because one person decided to do it that way doesn't mean it has to stay that way (especially if that person no longer edits the wiki — I'm not sure it you're referring to the wiki's sole administrator or not). If you have to fix a bunch of problems anyway, it would probably be better to just change things to the way all other Wiktionaries do it: non-disambiguated pages with multiple languages on each page. That's just my opinion, but then I don't work on this wiki, so.... - dcljr (disputatio) 02:48, 29 Martii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was referring to the sole administrator. I guess it was him who actually started this wiktionary and determined how it should be constructed. Those days Wikipedia might have been an attractive prototype for the technical realization of such a project. After so many years this person might have raised a familily and is occupied by wife and children, no more time to edit the wiki.
I agree that it doesn't have to stay that way, but there has to be someone (a motivated user and editor) who is willing to do the work. I came here to pretty up the inflection tables and create new entries based on Latin inflected forms. I'm not ambitioned to make a completely new wiktionary. It will be too much work for one person and I do not see anybody here who could help. Under these circumstances it's better to maintain the status quo. --YaganZ (disputatio) 15:16, 1 Aprilis 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I can help you. I need to learn the latin for my future. I want to be an historian and archaeologist. I currently contribute for the dutch and german wiktionary's, but i'm a little bit disappointed that none of the wiktionary's has a nice and clean model to work with. I maybe can create some nice templates and modules to make the entries easy. If you want my help and have the time to help me, I'll hear from you. -- DenisWasRight (disputatio) 11:01, 29 Maii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CC++

As an expert in this field, can you please explain me why am I getting this erro constantly: cl' is not recognized as an internal or external command. I tried to instal the Lua source on the pc, but something is not working. I already add C:\Windows\System32 as a Path. Thank you! -- DenisWasRight (disputatio) 10:23, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please post the complete error message and tell me under what conditions you get this. I need more information. --YaganZ (disputatio) 10:31, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to compile the c codes and create an .dll file in the map src of Lua-5.3.2 which I downloaded. As I try to enter the values as I saw in this video I'm getting this error. I already installed the VC 2015, Java and the feature C++. -- DenisWasRight (disputatio) 10:46, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see, you tried to invoke the console version of the C++ compiler and it couldn't be found. 'cl' means 'cl.exe' and you have to search for it. Maybe the path is wrong or you didn't install the console binaries at all. C:\Windows\System32 is the place where to put your DLL file.
Where to find the compiler binaries depends on which directory you used to install the Visual Studio software. Simply let the Explorer search for cl.exe. Then put an additional path to the directory where cl.exe is located, there also should be link.exe. If it's not found, you'll have to repeat the installing process and take care that the console binaries are installed too. --YaganZ (disputatio) 11:36, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't this the name C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\Binn\ of the path for the system variables? I downloaded the .rar with the binaries and put the .dll files in C:\Windows\System32. The instalation of the VSS went in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0. I couldn't find any cl.exe, only an cl file in map C:\Users\HP250G3. I also do not have vcvars32.bat in VC\bin\. Is that the problem? -- DenisWasRight (disputatio) 12:37, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If there's no cl.exe, the instruction video on youtube isn't suitable for you. You might use the Visual Studio IDE, but I don't know if there had come a project file with the LUA distribution. Where did you download the LUA sources? Did you use Visual Studio before? You might try an example C++ programm to test if the IDE is working correctly.
I'm using here a MacBook without Windows and would have to go to the bureau where I've got a computer with working Visual Studio. But this will not happen before next Monday in the afternoon. --YaganZ (disputatio) 14:54, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I already have installed the Microsoft Visual Studio and the Visula Studio Code. You can find the Lua sources here. Do I need to install this things too? Is there by the way any extension of the Lua for Adobe Dreamweaver?
I. — I asked you to tell me if you had tested the installation by compiling an example project. Which Windows version do you use?
II. — Thanks for the link to the LUA sources. Next week I'm going to try to compile them.
III. — Installing the Common Tools should be sufficient.
IV. — I don't use Dreamweaver and can't tell you anything about it. --YaganZ (disputatio) 16:40, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't test nothing yet. I'll need to install the Common Tools first. Then I can use the project C++ for windows 7. -- DenisWasRight (disputatio) 17:03, 4 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations: you are an administrator

Congratulations. You are now an administrator. (The stewards took Denis's comments on Vicipaedia as a withdrawal of his candidacy. However, I expect User:Samtar will be flagged tomorrow.) You should see a few more controls on your screen now.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me at Vicipaedia or Meta (probably not so much here). I'm not a sysop on Latin Wikipedia, but I am elsewhere. I'm sure if you have questions Andrew will be glad to help, too.

Note: your term is a temporary one, expiring in four months. So a week before that you'll have to start this whole process again.

Good luck! StevenJ81 (disputatio) 21:44, 7 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the pleasant and encouraging message and for the support you gave us. I'm going to explore the new situation very soon and it's reassuring that there is somebody whom I can ask for advice. --YaganZ (disputatio) 22:08, 7 Iunii 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Update as of 15:17, 19 Septembris 2016 (UTC)

  1. Despite what it says at Victionarium:Magistratus, you are the only person here who actually has the administrator flag. See Specialis:Usores/sysop.
  2. Based on what I wrote above, it would be timely to start a renewal discussion now. I will create one. I think I'm not going to !vote unless you don't get many hits. In that case, I'll look over some of what you've done so as to justify weighing in. StevenJ81 (disputatio) 15:17, 19 Septembris 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Renewal of sysop status

Hi StevenJ81,

it's very kind of you to remind me that my administratorship is going to expire in about two weeks. Thanks for your renewal preparations. I had in mind to write a brief report on what I have done during the past months (especially pertaining to admin actions), and that I'm looking forward to continue these activities for another period of time.

Now that you've already initiated “Nominationes” and “Petitio”, do you recommend to make an announcement in Taberna? --YaganZ (disputatio) 20:01, 19 Septembris 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Probably a good idea. I'll do that (in English). StevenJ81 (disputatio) 12:51, 20 Septembris 2016 (UTC)[reply]
