Baldur the white[+/-]

Baldur is really called "Baldur the white" or in Icelandic "Baldur hinn hvíti". The English translation doesn't do the original name justice, since "hinn" isn't an article so I don't think it can simply be translated as "Balderus Albus", but rather as "Balderus ille Albus"? If this is for the dictionary, I would say if the question has to be asked—i.e. if the sources don't say—it's not for us to answer.
