Specifically, howler monkeys (alouatta) and spider monkeys (ateles).

Is it a generic term, or a specific one covering only Alouatta and Ateles? If it is generic, perhaps it can be translated directly by atelides (sg. of Atelidae, of course). —Myces Tiberinus 03:10 mai 2, 2005 (UTC)

Alouatta and Ateles are apparently the only monkeys the Seris have encountered, so it can't really be said whether it'd apply to other monkeys or they'd come up with a new term. (Source) --Vlad 16:48 mai 2, 2005 (UTC)
