Maybe. But French is more complicated, as Old French still had two cases. Some modern French words descend not from the Old French oblique [= Lat. acc.] but the Old French nominative [= Lat. nom.]. (Sœur “sister” is an example: Old French suer nom.sg., seror obl.sg., serors nom./obl.pl., by Middle French remodeled to suer sg. suers pl.) I didn't know what kind bœuf was (it may have been remodeled already in OFr., like flors from flos) so I didn't put that information in—though I actually was going to.
